Great Sounding Wireless Headphones

Wireless headphones…I had to fly commercial airline flight not too long ago, and of course I took along my cans so I could listen to my favorite music and watch the movie on the airplane. The person sitting next to me had to get up, and when he did, his sleeve caught on the wire of my headset and tore off the wire.

Not the best way to make friends on an airplane!…and this isn’t the first time that wires have become entangled and useless for me. But, of course many companies are coming to the rescue to make these cordless cans. Check out some of the best names in manufacturing, including Sennheiser, Shure, Koss and many others to see them in action.Cans have come a long way! I remember in the 80’s when they had a radio built right in (with a giant antenna) and it took two to four batteries. As you can imagine, those “state of the art” devices looked more like something from a “B” grade movie than anything we use today!

Now, wireless headphones are barely noticeable. If the person uses the earbud or canalbud style, you can’t even tell that they’re listening to their favorite news station (although that might explain why they’re dancing around like maniacs). Different manufacturers have different qualities. They are SO great in the car! If you’re driving down the highway and you get a call on your bluetooth, having a hands-free option so you can keep both hands on the steering wheel is a very good idea.

These are increasing in popularity and you see all the time now, people walking around with small metallic devices on their ear. If you don’t already know, they hook over the ear and a small microphone reaches to their cheek, which can pick up their conversation. They are also useful in an office setting where a receptionist can walk around (perhaps delivering the mail) while still being able to answer and talk on the phone.

Although major advancements are being made in the headphone industry for these, for the music lover who loves to listen to music and tries to attain a near theatre quality sound, a circumaural headphone might be a better choice. However, these powerful devices require a power source and may not receive enough power from batteries in the headphones themselves. This will change in the near future but it may not be there just yet for the true music aficionado…

For the rest of us, they are just the correct amount of convenience and quality to hear the sounds we want to hear. One more thing: Its important to remember to keep the volume down a little on your wireless headphones and save your hearing!
