Earphones Are The Best Thing Going in Head Phones!

Most manufacturers include several different sizes of foam inserts to give the best fit possible… usually small, medium and large… so discomfort is usually not a factor. Most who have tried earphones love them because the hi and low frequencies are directed straight into the ears. This limits the music from escaping… giving great sound while keeping outside sounds and noise to a minimum.

Earphone Pros and Cons:

    Pros:
    1. Great sound because the music/sound goes directly into the ear without loss
    of sound.
    2. Compact and portable
    3. Help seal outside noises from being heard
Even though most earphones aren’t active noise canceling head phones, they can actually be considered better than standard noise cancelling headphones. Here’s why: Noise canceling headphones are designed to cut sounds at certain frequency ranges…
    low frequency, etc.

They do not cut ALL sounds… such as talking. So, if you want a total quiet environment, and not just restricted background sounds… earphones are the way to go. Especially on airplanes, buses, trains, etc. Have you ever sat next to a crying baby for 3 hours? Believe me… noise canceling headphones do not restrict those sounds.

    Cons:
    1. Some people find ear phones uncomfortable
    2. The top rated products can be very expensive… $600.00 and more!

Remember, when we talk about earphones… we’re not talking about the ear buds that come with an IPOD or other MP3 you have. Earbuds sit in the outside of the ear. They don’t block outside noises and are generally more harmful to your hearing. Here’s why: when outside noises aren’t blocked, you have to crank up the volume to hear your music… bad for your hearing. So, make sure you purchase or upgrade to ear phones.

There are may companies who specialize in music machines… namely Shure, Ultimate Ears, Etymotic Ears, Bose, SkullCandy, Sennheiser and others. Some models offered by several of these companies can be custom made to get an exact fit. Look for models that come along with foam or flex sleeves for greater sound isolation.

When it comes to top rated ear phones, you get what you paid for. Do not buy a cheap model and expect it to give the same performance as a high-end one. Try a pair of these sound machines for yourself. I think you’ll discover like I did… great sound, convenience and portability all in one package.
